School is situated on ground floor of the building
where St. Andrew's Marathi Church is held at
3, Meghraj Sethi Marg, Agripada (Byculla). When
the School was started by Rev. Laxman Hari in
1916 it had primary Classes for Gujarati Medium
students. Since the strength of Students in
the Gujarati Medium School dwindled it was decided
to close down the Gujarati Medium School and
start English medium K.G. Classes in the year
1966. Gradually additional classes were added
up to 4th Standard and this Primary Section
was recognised by the Bombay Municipal Corporation.
Later on Additional
Classes were added up to 7th Standard in the
year 1990. It was noticed that many students
left because it was not fully established High
School. The School Committee then decided to
extend the classes up to 10th Standard in the
year 1998. The School is recognised by the Education
Department of Government of Maharashtra. The
first batch of S.S.C students was sent in the
year 2002. The School is a coeducational Institute
catering mostly to the low income group residing
There are about 600 children on the roll and
classes are held in shift system. There are
8 teachers employed in the Secondary Section,
5 teachers in the Primary Section, 2 teachers
in K.G. Section and the office staff.
The School is managed under
the aegis of The B.D.T.A Pvt. Ltd. The Trust
Association is looking after expenses incurred
in the maintenance of the School building as
well as furniture and other requirements of
Mr. B.T. Nikam
is the Head Master of Secondary Section, Mrs.
Joseph Rebello is the Head Mistress of the Primary
Section and Mr. James Balid is the office Supdt.
looking after the office administration. There
is a School Managing Committee appointed by
the Board of Directors of B.D.T.A consisting
of Dr. Aylwin Rajendram as Chairman, Rev. P.B. Amolik
as Hon. Secretary, Mr. K.N. Balid Hon. Treasurer
and the School Committee Members are Rev. B.K.
Shukla, Rev. Prakash Patole and Mr. Anil Rawade.
|It is regretted that due to lack
of space the class rooms cannot be extended. The
Trust Association treats this activity as a part
of Social Service to the Community.
